There is no universal warranty period across the custom jewelry sector. The applicable term is usually negotiated in the purchase agreement and should identify the start point, such as shipment, delivery, or acceptance. A useful clause separates manufacturing defects from normal wear, customer handling, chemical exposure, accidental damage, and alterations performed after delivery. Buyers should also confirm whether the remedy is repair, replacement, rework, credit, or another agreed option, rather than assuming a cash refund.

Qualifying defects normally relate to failure to match the approved sample, written specification, or agreed workmanship tolerance. Examples may include a broken solder joint before reasonable use, missing components, incorrect dimensions, or materially inconsistent color when those requirements were documented. A claim is harder to assess when the specification is subjective or the item has been worn. The contract should define inspection criteria, claim deadlines, acceptable variation, batch identification, and the evidence required before replacement is approved.

Plating coverage depends on the agreed finish specification and the conditions under which the bracelet is used. Color change or surface wear can result from friction, perspiration, cosmetics, water, cleaning agents, or storage, so a buyer should not treat every finish change as a manufacturing defect. The specification should identify the base material, finish type, visual standard, and any agreed test method. RoHS or REACH compliance concerns restricted substances; it does not establish a wear-life warranty or prove plating durability.

Create a receiving procedure before the shipment arrives. Record carton and batch references, inspection quantities, defect categories, photographs or video, affected SKU and purchase-order details, and the date the issue was discovered. Preserve representative samples and avoid modifying or cleaning disputed pieces. Compare findings with the approved sample and written tolerance, then notify the supplier within the contractually stated period. For larger claims, an independent inspection can help distinguish production defects from transport damage or post-delivery handling.

Freight responsibility is a negotiated commercial term rather than an automatic industry rule. The agreement should state who arranges transport, who pays initial and return freight, how customs and duties are handled, and whether the supplier may request samples before authorizing a return. Incoterms can allocate delivery-related logistics and risk, but they do not replace a specific warranty clause. Buyers should obtain written authorization before returning goods and define the remedy if only part of a shipment is affected.

Support may include technical review, sample comparison, root-cause discussion, replacement components, rework, corrected production, or a credit agreed for the affected quantity. Customized orders require special care because an issue may involve the design file, approved sample, material substitution, assembly process, or a later change requested by the buyer. The purchase documents should establish change approval, revision control, rework limits, and response responsibilities. A clear escalation path between the buyer, factory, quality team, and sales contact reduces disputes and protects the production record.
